What data and why

This site has no advertising cookies and no advertising pixels. If you use the contact form, your name, email address and message go to my inbox through the email service Resend.

If you email me or use the form, I process what you send yourself: your name, your contact details and the content of your message. I use it to answer your question and, if it leads to an assignment, to carry it out. For an assignment the legal basis is the performance of a contract, for a single question my legitimate interest in replying to you. The accounts are subject to a statutory retention period.

Visitor statistics

To see how many people visit the site and how they get here, I use Google Analytics. It places cookies and records which pages you view, which site or link brought you here and roughly which city or region you are in. That location is derived from your IP address. Google does not store that IP address afterwards.

I have set up Google Analytics so that Google does not use the data for advertising and does not link it to a Google account. The data is kept for fourteen months. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in seeing how the site is used.

If you do not want to be counted, you can opt out here. Your browser remembers that.

How long I keep it

Correspondence that does not lead to an assignment is kept for at most two years. If it does become an assignment, the statutory retention period of seven years applies to the accounts.

Who I share it with

No one, except where it cannot be avoided: my email runs on Microsoft, the contact form sends through Resend, and my bookkeeping is done by an accounting firm. I do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising. Microsoft, Resend, Cloudflare and Google are American companies, so your data may be processed outside the EU.

This site is hosted by Cloudflare. It processes technical data such as your IP address to show the site and protect it against abuse. The contact form also uses Cloudflare Turnstile for this, a spam check without a puzzle.

Your rights

You may ask which data I hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. You may also object, have the processing restricted or request your data in a usable file. Email [email protected] and you will hear from me within four weeks. If you disagree with how I handle it, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
